At US 60, at routes 132 and 132Y, this place is enfolded in a tranquil grove beside the Williamsburg Visitors Center (with its shuttle service to the historic district). This Colonial Williamsburg Foundation-owned hotel is heavily relied upon by bus tours, families and conventioneers shy of the rates fetched by the Williamsburg Inn and Williamsburg Lodge.
The rooms are housed in a U-shaped brick building in keeping with Williamsburg's colonial character, and the lobby rests under a soaring peaked wood ceiling reminiscent
of a mountain lodge. Chipper folks at reception are ever-ready to serve up a smile with the key.
Guests dine in the family-style Huzzah next door for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and partake of complimentary Continental breakfast in the lobby.
On-site activities consist of an outdoor pool with deck, an exercise room, table tennis, shuffleboard, minigolf, summertime bike rentals and a summertime
children's program. Golf, tennis and other sports are available for a fee at the much finer Inn and Lodge.
The hotel also shares meeting space with the Inn and Lodge, but an on-site business center and wireless Internet connections serve to keep road warriors working. A guest laundry is another perk.
Guest rooms come in two distinct varieties. Rooms are just that, but suites add separate bedrooms, wet bars, microwave ovens and refrigerators. All show Shaker pine decor with paneled walls, TVs, phones with dial-up data ports, wired Internet access, coffeemakers, irons, ironing boards and small tiled baths with hair dryers.
This comfortable hotel is more comparable to the Holiday Inn Downtown and the Four Points Hotel & Suites than to its more refined Colonial Williamsburg siblings.
