This town near the Rhone River about 15 mi/25 km south of Lyon was an important Roman capital and the site of many martyrdoms in the early Christian period. See the ruined Roman market and the monument to Augustus Caesar and his wife. If time does not permit an overnight stay, you can see the town on a day trip from Lyon or as a several-hour stop en route to the Riviera or Marseille.
