Set amid stylish surroundings in the city center, this establishment easily outclasses the reworked Crowne Plaza and aging Hyatt. Its true competitor is the fine Hilton in terms of comfort, though traditionalists will prefer the Hilton. It falls short of The Cincinnatian on all counts.
The glassy modern tower is linked via skywalk to offices and a popular shopping mall. The Fountain Square location adds some city-center life, especially in good weather when crowds gather in the quad for noontime concerts. After climbing the escalators past the shops and public area, the lobby incorporates distressed-metal lamps, overstuffed sofas and honey-tone paneling. Off to one
side, the floor-to-ceiling windows of the new restaurant overlook Fountain Square. The modest new venue, Ingredients, serves breakfast and lunch only. Also, a new, independently operated McCormick and Schmick's franchise has opened in place of the former Fifth & Vine Sports Bar. Lunch and dinner are served here, with slabs of aged USDA beef the specialty at dinnertime.
This neighborhood offers plenty of other dining options as well. The health club on the 17th floor includes a well-equipped fitness room, an indoor pool with panoramic views, a whirlpool and a sauna. Meeting facilities are well balanced, with nearly a dozen meeting rooms and a ballroom
for up to 1,000 people. Valet parking is offered, and keycards access guest floors.
In classic Westin fashion, the accommodations show masculine decor with muted beige, brown and blue color schemes, and king or paired double Heavenly beds topped with thick duvets and pillow-top mattresses. Standard rooms have chairs with ottomans, granite-topped desks, two dual-line phones with voice mail and data ports, high-speed Internet access (for a fee), TVs in armoires, minibars, safes, coffeemakers, robes, and irons and ironing boards. Average-sized marble baths have hair dryers, curved shower rods, dual showerheads and enormous Egyptian bath sheets. Luxury king rooms supply sitting areas. Rooms facing Fountain Square furnish the best views.
Room service operates around the clock, and pets are welcomed with special bedding and treats. All rooms and public areas are now smoke-free.
Staff members show true Midwestern hospitality in everything they do. This well-oiled hotel keeps expense-accounters comfortable. For top-notch business accommodations, these are the best in the city.
