In the heart of the Zagreb and within walking distance of most of the city's attractions and restaurants stands arguably the most lavish and impeccable hotel in Zagreb. Since 1925, this pale-white columned building has been tied to the city's history, hosting many famous guests, politicians and businessmen among them. Completely renovated in 2004, the hotel continues to offer its guests the highest level of comfort and sophistication.
Inside, guests discover a vast lobby set in dark hues of yellow, black and brown. Completely renovated in 2004, the hotel's lobby and reception area are spacious. Large marble floors lead guests to the reception desks, cloaked in brown with towering clocks behind. Continuing in the grand tradition of excellent customer service, as the entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and efficient.
The hotel's
main restaurant, Zinfandel, with modern decor of sleek chairs and brown couches, serves elegant Mediterranean cuisine, with an impressive wine list featuring Croatian, European and California wines. There's also a view of Fountain Park below. Another option, Esplanade 1925, offers cocktails and light treats, along with afternoon tea. All drinks are inspired by the Orient Express. As its name suggests, Le Bistro serves Parisian-inspired fare tucked in the corner of the hotel.
There is no pool at the hotel. However, a complimentary health and fitness club offers exercise equipment, massages and other treatments. Guests can also try their luck at the Casino City Zagreb.
In the lobby is a gift shop selling traditional Croatian wares. The hotel boasts its own limousine—with driver—and a car rental service.
Seven meeting rooms are available, including the domed Emerald Ballroom, accommodating up to 300 people. The Paris and Istanbul suites can hold up to 140 and 170 people, respectively, and can be divided into three separate rooms. The Venice Suite is smaller and can serve up to 110 people. The hotel's business center is located on the first floor, featuring the typical wireless high-speed Internet access, computers, fax services and telephones. On-site parking is available, along with valet.
The tasteful and lavish superior and deluxe rooms are furnished with elegant furniture, including large beds. Amenities include satellite TVs, three telephones, air-conditioning, minibars, goose-down pillows and complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access. Guests also appreciate the fresh flowers and complimentary overnight shoeshine. Additional offerings for the hotel's suites include larger rooms and scenic views of the city. Some deluxe rooms view the city, as
well. All baths are outfitted with marble floors, robes and slippers, and a bath menu.
The Presidential Suite has views of Fountain Park and the city skyline. Some rooms are smoke-free, and a few are wheelchair accessible. Pets are permitted, with circumstances varying for each situation. Same-day laundry, dry cleaning and pressing service are available. Room service is nonstop.
With its rich history and impeccable service, the Regent Esplanade stands alone. Although the Westin Zagreb offers similar service and amenities, it cannot compare to the reputation and attitude here.
