Professional Review
Next to a business park on a hill above the touristy wharf, this hotel is not as opulent as the adjacent Commodore, but it is unexpectedly steeped in Cape Town's slave-trade history.
The crisp, clean lobby, subtly nautical with pale hardwood floors and cruise-ship photos above reception, is built around a glassed-in 1860s well with a fern emerging from it. Discovered during construction in 1994, this was the cistern for the adjacent prison.
