Known as the City of Museums, Szentendre was founded in medieval times. Plan at least half a day exploring the numerous museums and walking the town's hilly, winding streets among brightly colored buildings.
Don't miss the Margit Kovacs Museum (exhibits of her ceramic work), the Ferenczy Museum (examples of Hungarian impressionism) and the baroque Orthodox church (and its Serbian Ecclesiastical Arts Collection). Northwest of town is the Open-Air Ethnographical Museum, a collection of typical Hungarian buildings.
15 mi/25 km northwest of Budapest.
