Located in a prime central location, an easy stroll from Queen Street shopping and the ferries to Waiheke Island and Devonport, the Stamford has lost its edge as Auckland's finest hotel. At inspection, everything was chaos. With several levels of new, private apartments under construction on top of the hotel, noise was a problem, the elevators were malfunctioning and hot water was cut off to many rooms. Rather than being apologetic and obliging, the staff seemed smug and unrepentant.
