Company Overview for Sofitel Hotels & Resorts
Sofitel Hotels & Resorts is the most prestigious brand in the Accor family. In the past couple of years, the brand has undergone significant changes. In 2006, the chain offered 206 hotels worldwide; it now offers 139. Some of those hotels were taken out of the Accor system completely, and others were transferred into other Accor brands.
Sofitel has spent more than US$150 million renovating its remaining hotels and rebranding many of them in one of two styles: Sofitel Legend and So by Sofitel. Sofitel Legend encompasses older properties, and So by Sofitel is the company’s edgier, lifestyle brand.
Sofitel Hotels offers a variety of guest rooms and suites at all its locations. In-room amenities generally include air-conditioning, safe-deposit box, minibar, cable/satellite TV, voice mail, hair dryer, tub, separate shower and 24-hour room service.
Hotel services and facilities typically include Wi-Fi Internet access in public areas, concierge, copying and printing service, fitness center, dry cleaning and ironing service, porter, safe-deposit box at reception, handicap accessibility and babysitting upon request. Pets are not allowed at most locations.
Many Sofitel locations, especially those in major cities, offer a variety of conference and meeting space to accommodate business and special events. Most properties also offer at least one on-site bar and one on-site gourmet restaurant.
Sofitel Resorts often include many of the same guest room and hotel amenities as Sofitel Hotels. However, they are generally in more exotic destinations and offer a variety of recreational activities. In-room technological amenities are often limited at the more exotic locations. Eight of the Sofitel Resorts in Europe and the Mediterranean offer the Accor Thalassotherapy or thermal spa treatments.
