Seattle has many downtown hotels, from boutique beauties such as the Alexis and Inn at the Market to the ever-expanding Sheraton and the new waterfront Marriott. Business types will find plenty of good choices, but there's less in the budget range. The newer the hotel, the more expensive it's likely to be (such as the new Silver Cloud Hotel Seattle-Stadium near Safeco Field, the new Pan Pacific Seattle near Lake Union, and the Four Seasons being built near the Seattle Art Museum). Most hotels are within a 15-minute walk of Pike Place Market and the convention center. Special rates often apply on weekends. Reserve well in advance of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Seafair, the annual summer festival in early August. Many downtown hotels offer less-expensive rates during winter.
