With a convenient location 800 m south of Sapporo Station, about halfway between the station and Odori Park, site of the famous Sapporo Snow Festival held annually in February, this is the grande dame of North Japan's biggest city, opened in 1934 as the first European-style hotel in Hokkaido. Although there's nothing remaining of its early days, it exudes a comfortable, slightly old-fashioned atmosphere.
