Opened in June 2006, the Sopa Samburu is the newest lodge in Samburu National Reserve, the main safari destination in northern Kenya, situated an hour's drive from Isiolo.

Unlike all the older lodges, it doesn't stand alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, but about 6 km further north on the rocky, acacia-clad slopes of Koitogorr Hill, and excellent site for the many localised "dry-country specials" for which Samburu is renowned.
