Salt Lake City offers visitors excellent lodging value compared with many cities of its size. Most hotels are downtown, close to businesses and the entertainment, restaurant and shopping districts. There are hotels near the airport, but downtown has a more diverse selection. We suggest making reservations during times of the year that attract many visitors: the annual Pioneer Day parade and festivities (24 July); the winter ski season (late November to mid-April); December's series of holiday events; and the semiannual Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints conferences (first weekends of April and October).
