Professional Review
The Radisson SAS 1919 Hotel derives its rather cumbersome name from the date of its construction. Built as the headquarters of Eimskipafelag Islands (the first shipping line in Iceland) in 1919, the grand old building was converted into a hotel in 2005. Many original features remain intact, though decor has a stylish modern touch. A new wing was seamlessly added in 2006. The hotel is in the heart of Reykjavik's business and shopping district, close to the main restaurants bars and nightclubs.
