Designed by Edward Durrell Stone, the architect who designed New York's Museum of Modern Art, this museum is in the midst of a US$20 million facelift scheduled for completion in 2010. As a result, only temporary exhibitions are on view at the MAP@Plaza in San Juan. The museum in Ponce houses the most extensive art collection in the Caribbean. The elegant structure showcases the works of old-world painters (pre-Raphaelite artists, in particular) as well as art and sculpture of contemporary local artists. 2325 Las Americas Ave., Ponce.
