Hotels are concentrated near the airport, along the waterfront, in the business district and in the Independence Park area. Wonderful bed-and-breakfasts and inns are scattered throughout Center City, as well. Philadelphia is always crowded with visitors at the usual vacation times, including New Year's Eve and Day, when thousands journey to the city to see the fabulously wacky Mummers Parade. The Pennsylvania Convention Center can draw thousands during big events, so it's wise to book hotel rooms well in advance.

Ten Avenue of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA
This hotel's excellent location can be a drawback, as heavy traffic veers around City Hall, and the area lacks off-street parking and unloading zones. Hyatt Regency Philadelphia-Penns Landing
201 S Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA
Located just off Race Street, this is the only waterfront hotel in the area, a foreboding 22-story limestone tower that rises like a miniature Empire State Building. It is a source of contention for residents of the neighboring apartment building whose river views it now blocks. However, guests here... Read Entire Review »

One of the closest hotels to the airport, this is one of the best airport options, a dependable first-class operation with good service and well-designed guest rooms, but limited room service is a disappointment. Penn's View Hotel
14 N Front St, Philadelphia, PA
Located in the heart of the old town, overlooking the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, this flavorful boutique property could boast a waterfront location if not for the 18 lanes of Interstate 95 traffic streaming between it and the banks of the Delaware.
