Across the street from the Old City walls, between New Gate and Jaffa Gate, the former Dan Pearl Jerusalem follows the trajectory of most Israeli hotels—soaring high at the start, then settling back into mediocrity. The once-sharp edge here dulled due to lax maintenance during its brief tenure in the Dan hotel chain. Now under new management, the Pearl has begun to resurrect itself, and it remains a fine offering on account of its unique location shared only with the dazzling David Citadel Hotel
