Ningaloo Reef is on Australia's west coast. The reef is accessible from both Exmouth and Coral Bay, about halfway between Perth and Broome.
One of only a very few coral reefs in the world to form on the western side of a continent (ocean currents favor east-side formation), Ningaloo is famous for the annual migration of whale sharks April-July. This is one of the few places in the world where you can swim with these gentle giants of the sea. Manta rays also are spotted year-round and, unlike the Great Barrier, this reef lies only yards/meters from the beach.
