Nantucket's hotels are charming, and many reflect the island's whaling past. Choose from shingled oceanfront resorts such as the Wawinet or, if you want to stay in Nantucket Town, a ship-captain's mansion such as the 1845 Jared Coffin House. If you want your stay to be more casual, small inns, bed-and-breakfasts and cottages are scattered all over the island. Many are only open in season, from April or May through October. Prime season is June-August; if you plan to visit during that time, make reservations well in advance, especially on weekends.
