This eight-story 1970s-style concrete monolith stands in expansive green grounds about one km northeast of the city centre and 40 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport along the surfaced road towards Moshi. Government owned, but managed by the French chain Accor, it has the feel of a business hotel. Traditionally, however, it is also the leading package tour base in Arusha, a position that's rapidly being undermined by an increase in competition.
