Accommodations in Mississippi include first-class to basic hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, historic inns, motels, campgrounds and resorts. For a taste of the Old South, stay in a restored antebellum mansion (they often have views of the Mississippi River) or other historic buildings. The Eola Hotel in Natchez brims with vintage atmosphere, and Duff Green Mansion in Vicksburg, built as a wedding present in 1856, served as a hospital for wounded soldiers during the Civil War. It's one of several restored mansion inns in the city. Gulf Coast hotels, particularly casino-hotels, have been rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina, but the total room count remains down. So be sure to make reservations early, especially for holiday weekends.
