If you're interested in seeing the midnight sun, anywhere north of the Arctic Circle will do. But we think that the North Cape (Nordkapp), at the very top of the country, has the best view, and the "day" lasts from mid-May until the end of July. The North Cape itself is a great black cliff, towering 700 ft/215 m above the Atlantic.
Once you could reach the summit by scaling the cliff, but that is no longer permitted. Access to the summit now is by car via a mountain pass (you may encounter large herds of reindeer en route). The biggest surprise—other than having to pay an admission fee—is the Thai room at the local visitors center, which contains a collection of objects commemorating the King of Siam's visit to the North Cape in the 19th century. Unusual antique postage stamps depicting the North Cape are for sale. There's not much else there, but the whole scene is very picturesque and somewhat eerie.
