Australia's oldest zoo opened in 1862. It's a great (and safe) place to see Australia's abundant wildlife. Highlights include Asian and African rain forests, an Australian bush area, a butterfly house and the World of Bugs exhibit. Another must-see is the Trail of the Elephants exhibit, which was awarded the National Award for Excellence in Heritage Interpretation. Roar 'n' Snore overnight camps allow you to explore the zoo after dark, go behind the scenes and sleep in the elephant exhibit. The zoo is open daily 9 am-5 pm. Free guided tours daily 10 am-3 pm.
