At the far southwestern end of the hotel strip, next to prestigious Hayam Mall, one km from the airport, this all-suite operation caters specifically to individual tourists. Unlike the more commercial Magic Palace and Dan Panorama Eilat, its competitors in the middle range, this hotel offers up stylish charisma in a setting that is centrally located but secluded enough to make it a true resort. Here, the public areas are limited but the large standard accommodations more than compensate.
This handsome cream-colored U-shaped resort cups a well-designed pool and limited landscaped grounds. All hug a manmade private waterfront.
The second-floor lobby shows clean-lined modern comfort. Stylish sitting areas with freeform furnishings are placed on walnut parquet islands
surrounded by a sea of marble. Both guests and the efficient reception staff enjoy sweeping views through huge windows that take in the lovely pool, sapphire sea, Aqaba's port across the gulf in Jordan, and Saudi Arabian peaks rising near Aba al Hinshan.
Guests head below to an urbane chrome-trimmed bar, and the nightclub with singing waiters keeps things interesting. Dining is centered on the buffet room where half-board guests take two-thirds of their meals. Lunch is served beside the pool. The a la carte Retro restaurant serves up nouveau Mediterranean cuisines and fish dishes.
With no sand or beach available, visitors who want to sun themselves must position their chaise longues on the wooden quay or back at the pool where there are better facilities. The adult pool
is large and is supplemented by a shaded kids' plunge pool.
Children's programs are extensive. At the health club, guests pay to use the gym, sauna and hammam. Health and beauty treatments, many derived from the Dead Sea, add to the hotel's list of luxuries. Seaview meeting space holds up to 480 delegates.
The accommodations offer some of the largest standard rooms in Eilat. The contemporary suites show considerable elan with mostly varnished-wood appointments, plush carpeting, handsome coordinated fabrics in masculine earth tones, and custom ceramic lamps atop glass-topped tables in sitting areas. Pocket doors close off bedrooms, each with large paired double or king beds and closets with safes. Sofas fold out into third beds in the sitting rooms. Three phones, voice
mail, two TVs, minibars, coffeemakers and air conditioning are standard. The roomy baths come with magnifying mirrors and hair dryers. Small balconies angle out. The smaller studios have poorer exposures, while the premier Garden Suites have whirlpool baths and landscaped and well-furnished patios. Connecting rooms comprise the two-bedroom Royal Meridien Suites. Internet connections are being added and there is a smoke-free floor.
This operation manages to break the standard hotel formula in Eilat, with upbeat interiors and sumptuous suite accommodations that are very appealing for individuals. This is the only Eilat hotel offering direct access from the swimming pool to the warm waters of the gulf, and due to its secluded nature, a true resort atmosphere.
