Opposite the Grand Cayman Beach Suites, this stylish condominium complex is surrounded by shopping, great restaurants, car-rental agencies, banks and dive shops.
This striking Mediterranean-style building, with a rust-colored barrel tile roof, has a lot going for it. A small reception area with tall decorative urns just outside the door is the beginning of a unique visual experience and island-friendly hospitality. Stucco buildings with dramatic archways and shady arbors encircle a large courtyard. Sturdy benches sit under shady palms and cascading bougainvillea, making perfect places to relax.
Short strolls through lush landscaping lead to a beach dotted with chaise longues and
colorful umbrella tables. Guests also enjoy active recreation on the tennis and volleyball courts and more relaxed pursuits in the thatched lanais, sparkling pool, whirlpool, sauna, clubhouse, fitness room and hammocks. Nearby watersports companies bring the most affordable and experienced options within reach to adventurous travelers.
The quartet of three-story mission-style buildings consists of two facing the sea and two facing the courtyard. Many of these privately owned apartments are furnished in natural bamboo and earth tones, and others are nicely decorated in typical Caribbean style and colors (all according to the preferences of the individual owners, some of whom may be stuck in a past decade). All have tile floors, carpeting, furniture, stocked kitchens, complimentary high-speed Internet access,
and baths with basic toiletries and towels. Highlights among all are original watercolors, Spanish-style balconies, full kitchens, living rooms, one to three bedrooms, and combination baths.
Standard amenities include air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TVs and phones. Master bedrooms boast oversized tubs, and duplex units have half-baths downstairs and full baths upstairs. Patios and porches on the first and second floors are covered, and those on the top floor are open for sunlovers.
Garden units afford lovely tropical views, but seafront apartments are superior and, predictably, more expensive. These garden accommodations also take in substantial parking-lot views and road traffic,
which is far from desirable based on the low-rise nature of the property. The lovely three-bedroom unit 35 features a furnished kitchen, huge closets, twin trundle beds in a third bedroom, and courtyard views. Unit 4 is a deluxe two-bedroom seafront apartment with a huge new kitchen. On-site laundry facilities and daily maid service (except for Sunday) are part of the bargain.
Pets are not permitted. Outside appearances may be deceiving, and the cool interior of this low-key option is refreshingly pleasant. This property offers beautiful oceanfront accommodations for those not seeking extravagance. This place is a solid bet for most island visitors, especially families.
