Company Overview for Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts
Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, among the world's most global hotel companies and one of the largest by number of rooms. This pioneering brand says it was the first hotel company to sell a franchise, the first to advertise on television and the first to operate a computerized reservation system. Today, including its brand extension
Holiday Inn Express, the Holiday Inn brand name operates more than 3,000 hotels in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Rim.
Holiday Inn hotels provide such full-service amenities as restaurants and room service, a lounge, a swimming pool and a fitness center. For the business traveler, they offer 24-hour business services, meeting facilities and the Holiday Inn Meeting Promise. This program is the hotel's written guarantee that if everything is not exactly as specified in the meeting contract, Holiday Inn will correct the problem to the customer's satisfaction or forego payment for the item.
Amenities that guests can expect at a Holiday Inn include coffeemakers, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, voice mail, data port, cable TV, free premium channels and electronic door locks for optimum security. Some hotels offer rooms with a king bed and whirlpool. Also, at all Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts children under 12 eat free at the on-site restaurant.
Parent company InterContinental Hotels Group recently announced that by 2009, Holiday Inn is eliminating 100,000 rooms and adding about 35,000 in the United States. The chain intends to end franchise agreements with outdated or substandard properties that still use low-rise, two-story buildings and external corridors. According to IHG spokespeople, the overhaul is an attempt to bolster a consistent level of quality and service at all Holiday Inn locations. Despite this streamlining, there will be no shortage of rooms. Between Holiday Inn & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express, the brand name has just over 1,000 hotels in the pipeline.
This chain has four brand extensions: Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Select, Holiday Inn SunSpree Resorts and Holiday Inn Garden Court.
Guests at any of these brand hotels can take advantage of the chain's loyalty program, called Priority Club. It allows members to earn points toward merchandise and free stays. Benefits include priority check-in, extended checkout and a complimentary weekday newspaper.
Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts recently partnered with Nickelodeon to create Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn. This single location hotel features cartoon-themed rooms for children as well as Nick@Nite-themed rooms for adults, in addition to many other Nickelodeon-themed amenities and attractions.
