Lava-watchers, hikers and bikers will enjoy the numerous routes and miles/kilometers of trails at this park. The trails and paths link its popular Kilauea Caldera, Halemaumau Crater, Kilauea Iki, Bird Park, Thurston Lava Tube and several other features. The 11-mi/17-km Crater Rim Drive circling Kilauea Caldera is a stark, spectacular trek on foot, bike or by car. The 20-mi/32-km Chain of Craters drive to the eruption site is done only by car to road's end. You'll need to hike over rough lava rock trails to reach the lava-flow viewing areas, which change continuously. Daily 7:45 am-5 pm. US$10 per vehicle (seven-day pass).
