Located 800 m east of the Ploce gate to the city and within walking distance of the Old Town, this beachside hotel overlooks Lokrum Island. The recently renovated hotel offers a relaxed atmosphere, private parking, and a private beach area on white sands. With tastefully appointed rooms and fine dining restaurants overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, it makes a memorable getaway for leisure travelers.
Villa Argentina looks like a low-rise structure, because most of its seven floors are built into the cliffside. Reception is on the sixth floor, and the entrance and lobby are vast. Here, arriving guests are greeted by the uniformed door staff and porters, all English-speakers. The reception desk and a bar are in this area, and guests can sit in armchairs and sofas and admire the stunning views over the sea to Lokrum Island and the walled city. For such a large hotel, the staff here is exceptionally helpful and friendly, and their command of English is nearly perfect.
The elegant La Caravelle restaurant offers fine dining with a menu of international and Croatian dishes, with views of Old Town and the sea. Less formal Victoria serves similar fare and offers dining on a terrace. The Beach
restaurant is casual, offering light, simple snacks and lobster barbecues. The La Caravelle piano bar offers comfortable seating inside and sunny and shady seats on a terrace. The Victoria aperitif bar has club armchairs, and its arched columns suggest Eastern influence. Also available is the Lounge Cafe, located in the reception area. Villa Orsula also has its own bar. Note: The operations within the complex are interconnected, and the room-number system can be a bit confusing. This can lead to billing confusion when signing for drinks and meals, so guests should make it clear which part of the complex they are staying in, keep receipts and check their bills.
The indoor pool contains freshwater, and the outdoor pool holds seawater. The spa and fitness center is called the Energy Clinic and provides a whirlpool, gym, massage, and various therapies and beauty treatments. Drinks are served on the beach, which is not sandy but has concrete and wooden decking. It is suitable for swimming.
The hotel is equipped with eight meeting rooms, which can be expanded to accommodate large conferences. The largest of four meeting and conference rooms, Villa Argentina Salon, holds 220 guests. A second room can be subdivided into four rooms seating 40 people. Coffee areas are in all, and some have cloakrooms and sea-view terraces. Each venue can be supplied with modern business technology, including speakers, cable and wireless microphones, CD and DVD players, overhead and slide projectors, TVs and much more. The business center offers Internet access and a full range of audiovisual equipment. Covered parking is available, as well as a limousine service and private parking.
Elevators go to all floors, and each landing has sumptuous armchairs and sofas. The large windows confer a feeling of airy spaciousness. All rooms are individually designed with muted Mediterranean colors in a classical style and are smart and well-maintained. Common to all are air-conditioning, medium or large satellite TVs, wireless Internet access, a minibar, a safe, good closet space, desks, tables and chairs. Modern and classical artwork adorns the walls. Most rooms have a full balcony or a French balcony (no sitting area). Standard rooms have reasonably sized baths with tub-shower combinations, marble vanities, toiletries and hair dryers.
Most of the rooms (80%) enjoy views of the sea. For magnificent views get the corner terrace, and for pleasant views avoid rooms overlooking the brick wall. All rooms are smoke-free, but none of them provides wheelchair access. The hotel does not have a specific policy regarding pets. Room service runs around the clock but is limited after midnight.
