A long-standing tradition in Gainesville is to post messages, campaign slogans, protests and virtually anything else in word or picture on The Wall. It was designed as a retaining structure for part of the University of Florida golf course but has become a kind of public bulletin board. The Wall stretches for about 100 yards/91 meters along the east side of Southeast 34th Street, starting about a half-mile/1 km south of Newberry Road.
