See the small farm that inspired the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Yearling and Cross Creek. Tour Rawlings' home and learn about her life and work, and how she kept her orange grove from freezing on frosty winter nights. Her antique typewriter still rests on a table on the front porch. Open for self-guided tours daily 9 am-5 pm. Guided tours (highly recommended) are offered Thursday-Sunday 10 and 11 am. No tours August and September although the park remains open. US$2 per carload; house tours cost US$3 for adults, US$2 children ages 6-12, free for children younger than 6. Highway 325 (about 21 mi/34 km southeast of Gainesville), Cross Creek.
