| What to Wear | Top |
Because Daytona Beach is a laid-back area, almost any clothing is acceptable. T-shirts, shorts and sandals dominate the dress scene. Be aware that beachwear should not be worn away from the beach. Hats and plenty of sunscreen are recommended to avoid sunburn. Umbrellas come in handy during late summer afternoons when central Florida is subject to brief showers.
For business meetings, conservative suits are often the style, but business travelers should be aware of the area's high summer temperatures and humidity. Business casual sets the mood for most business attire—in Florida, that means khakis and polo shirts with the occasional blazer for men, blouses and slacks for women, sun dresses only with a blazer.

The Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) is just north of the city. The best way to get to and from the airport is to rent a car, but taxis and shuttles are also available. If you're planning to spend most of your time in town and at the beach, the city operates an efficient public-transportation system that includes citywide bus service as well as old-fashioned trolleys that serve the beach areas January-September.
The Daytona Beach International Airport, just a few miles/kilometers north of the beach, is easy and convenient to use. There are connecting flights from nearly 200 cities. A small food court and a gift shop are on-site. Security phone 386-248-8069. Administration phone 386-248-8030. http://www.flydaytonafirst.com.
Car rental services are located at the airport. It's easy to get around the Daytona Beach area, thanks to its uncomplicated road grid-system. Two of the busiest roads are International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92), which runs east-west to the beach, and Atlantic Avenue (A1A) which runs north-south. Those highways move a lot of traffic without much congestion. However, during major area events, motorists might want to find alternate routes or choose another time to travel.
Several taxi, limousine and shuttle services are available to meet all arriving flights and provide 24-hour service. You must phone for a taxi ahead of time.
