Adjacent to the convention center and near the superior Cincinnati Marriott River Center, this place breaks no new ground in Covington's hospitality market, but provides dependable suite accommodation that is perfect for corporate long-stays and families on the go. Its proximity to River Center is a big plus on the weekends.
The uninteresting rectangular concrete building is more attractive inside, where guests find a dramatic eight-story atrium dominated by ponds, potted trees and flowering foliage. The restaurant may offer up modest American fare, but the setting is sensational, with some of the region's best views of the city and river. Complimentary, cooked-to-order breakfasts are served
in the atrium, and the manager's nightly cocktail parties are held in the bar.
Recreation here is better than at most hotels in the area, with an indoor pool, sauna, small gym and whirlpool. Exceptional meeting space accommodates up to 1,400 at banquets, and the adjoining convention center has room for thousands more. The hotel offers self-parking for $10, or double that for valet. There is also a reasonably priced shuttle to the airport.
The well-designed, well-maintained two-room suites are furnished with high-quality blond oak appointments, living rooms with sofa
beds, wet bars and dining tables that second as desks, and average-size bedrooms with second TVs and phones. A few stains and mars are evident, but overall maintenance is good. The marble baths lack space but provide hair dryers and toiletries. Room service is provided, and turndown can be requested. Pets are not permitted.
Limited staff means lines at checkout time can be long. This is, nevertheless, a good choice, especially for those who require lots of space. The location is convenient and lively, and only the Marriott tops this fine riverside hotel.
