Although this hotel plays second fiddle to the similarly priced Marriott, it stands tall on its facilities and dedicated staff—and its location on the edge of the business district assures guests easy parking. While it may lack the guest-room amenities and work stations found at the Marriott, this 25-story tower does offer a greater selection of public facilities.
A variety of live entertainment performs weeknights in the Elements Bar, a popular location for lunch and lighter fare, and on the second level, guests eat in Elements Bistro, the signature dining room, which serves fine regional fare.
An around-the-clock business center supplies services and equipment at a price. On the third level are fitness rooms, an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and sundeck. The pool is open late with an adults-only swim from 10 pm until midnight.
A dozen meeting rooms accommodate 1,000 but are no match for those at the nearby Westin. The garage exacts a fee, though a complimentary limousine can be requested from 7 am to 9 pm. Pets are allowed and a special activity center for kids opens up
on the weekends.
Accommodations come in five categories—Delta, Premiere, Deluxe, Deluxe Premiere and Deluxe Jacuzzi Suites—with amenities and room size improving up the scale. All rooms have coffeemakers, high-speed Internet access (a fee is charged in Delta rooms), hair dryers, irons, good toiletries and robes. All units have an unimaginative contemporary look, windows that open, TVs, data ports and tiled combination baths. Delta rooms are tiny with shabby furnishings and linens along with dismal views (and sounds) of the fire station next door. Premiere rooms are a little better, with more space and slightly better amenities. Deluxe and Deluxe Premiere rooms have king beds and are the same size. The major difference is the recent renovations and a sofa bed instead of a loveseat in the Deluxe Premiere sitting area. Rooms on the north side are worth requesting for their Bow River views. There are 15 smoke-free floors, and guests in wheelchairs are accommodated.
Room service operates until 2 am, an ATM and a gift shop are in the lobby, and the staff is both efficient and friendly.
