Professional Review for Courtyard by Marriott Port Of Spain

Exterior

This property opened in February 2005 and is an excellent alternative to the two big business hotels (Hilton and Crowne Plaza) located in the city. It is adjacent to a business park and shopping area just minutes from downtown Port of Spain. This establishment offers the standard features that guests have come to expect from Marriott's Courtyard brand.

Guests enter a snappy lobby with laminate wood floors with dark-wood accents and a sitting area piping in the news on a large TV. The Flambeau, Courtyard's concept eatery, offers food and beverages for a price at the front desk. All meals are buffet, although lunch and dinner also offer some a la carte options.

A small pool provides relaxation, and complimentary high-speed Internet access is available in all guest rooms and public areas of the hotel. A small fitness center serves the active guests. Three meeting spaces can accommodate up to 100 people, and audiovisual equipment is available.

Rooms feature teak furnishings and show colorful island designs. Focus on the needs of the business traveler adds up to the large desks and comfortable desk chairs. Beds come as kings or two queens with wood headboards. Amenities include TVs, direct-dial phones, complimentary tea and coffee, laptop-size safes, refrigerators, irons and hair dryers. Baths are shower-only, but executives and suites add whirlpool tubs. Room service runs from noon to 11 pm. One room is wheelchair accessible.

This operation is a perfect business hotel but is not designed for those seeking island ambience. It is a better choice than the Kapok Hotel for comfort.
