Casa Medina, located on a quiet street in the new business and residential district, 30 minutes of Bogota's city center, 45-minutes from the airport, is one of the first boutique hotels in Colombia.
The five-floor, 19-year-old hotel was remodeled in 2007, and has been declared a "monument of cultural interest."
Guests enter the brick and stone building that was once a private home under a pillared portico. A large antique painting of a lady dominates the entryway. The small foyer has a curved staircase that leads to the upper floors with stained glass windows on each landing.
The small reception area, located just off the foyer, has a fireplace and a conversation area and is where guests are greeted with a fruit drink or water.
The Casa Medina Restaurant offers international cuisine and a well-stocked bar. The restaurant is a mix of dark wood and stained
glass. Guests can opt to dine on one of the garden patios. There are many excellent restaurants in the area.
Guests can make use of the small gym and the massage room. The staff will arrange tours and car rentals. Three meeting rooms serve the needs for board meetings, executive breakfasts, and lunches for a maximum of 12 people. A conference room accommodates 60 people.
All of the meeting rooms are equipped with the latest technology, Internet access, video conferencing, printers, laptop computes, fax, phone line, and plasma TV with the service of a personal meeting manager plus catering. Cellular phone rentals are available.
Both elevator and stairs lead to the accommodations where guest can opt for a king- or queen size bed with duvets. Each room is unique, but all have a desk, 26 in flat-screen TV, Internet access, data ports, voice mail, minibar and clothes valets. Some suites have a balcony.
Baths are state-of-the-art, with tub and shower, side vanity mirrors, hair dryer and spa toiletries. Truffles accompany turndown service. Suites feature fireplaces; some have windows with two perspectives and whirlpool tubs. Guests will find carpeting in some accommodations, gleaming hardwood floors in others while still others have hand-carved woodwork.
Preferred rooms are on the top floor offering the charm of beamed ceilings. Smoke-free and wheelchair accommodations (not ADA-compliant) are available. Pets are not allowed. Room service is available from 6 am to 11 pm as is laundry service. High-level security is on-site, but there is no sprinkler system.
This hotel is unique in design and character and the only one in its class. It is for those who shun the chain hotels. It caters to businesspeople looking for an ambient place to relax at the end of the workday, especially those with long-term stays. Service is personalized and first-rate.
