Though small and often unnoticed, this hotel is a gem on this island. The property enjoyed a much different reputation a few decades ago when it was featured in several major motion pictures in the 1960s. Today, it has been completely renovated and is a popular site for many model and fashion shoots. Sitting on a majestic cliff, it overlooks the ocean, with views from the pool deck, lobby and guest rooms that are unrivaled at most other island hotels.
Guests enter the original pink building via a starkly modern lobby with island art and a clean look. Staffers are eager to please, including the owner, who spends much of his time assisting guests.
The award-winning Shutters on the
Bay delights guests at breakfast and dinner, and lunch is served at the pavilion beach bar No Problem. A small bar allows guests to enjoy beverages inside the intimate lounge or outside on the terrace overlooking the water. A coffee shop poolside below the terrace serves donuts and afternoon tea.
A small dive shop is available for adventurous guests—kayaks and snorkeling gear are included in the rates—and a conference room hosts small groups. Wireless Internet access is included in the rates and is available throughout the property. Weddings and honeymoons are common at this property.
A raised eco-friendly roof helps keep the buildings cool. Rooms are in one of three buildings, 
each with hardwood floors and teak furniture. Each elegant room's central feature is the four-poster mahogany bed that sits royally in the center, covered with fluffy pillows and a down comforter. The simple furnishings add to the sophistication of this island resort. Baths feature tubs and showers, with huge windows that overlook the ocean, as well as hair dryers and ample counter space. Other amenities include air-conditioning, phones with voice mail and data ports, minibars, safes, ceiling fans and TVs.
Though farther from the other lodgings on the island, this highly acclaimed hotel deserves every award and piece of media attention it receives. A stay here is a real treat.
