Best Western says it selects its properties based in part on their individuality and that each hotel reflects the culture of the area in which it is located. As a result of this strategy, the chain comprises some properties that were once castles and others that had former lives as drive-in movie theaters.
The chain makes a commitment to quality standards that it calls BestRequests. This package of amenities and services is available at every Best Western hotel worldwide. It includes: a Continental or hot breakfast on-site; a data port connection in all guest rooms; free long-distance access, or free local calls under 30 minutes; a coffee/teamaker with complimentary coffee and tea; irons and ironing boards; and hair dryers. In the United States, Canada and the Caribbean, all hotels offer free high-speed Internet access.
Best Western also offers what the chain calls Business Amenities. These accommodations can be found worldwide in more than 1,600 hotels and include meeting room space, a free morning newspaper, exercise facilities and free wireless Internet access.
This chain is a recognized leader in the midprice range. Although room rates vary according to market and season, the average daily rate is approximately US$72 in the United States and Can$94 in Canada. Best Western hotels also offer a government/military hotel discount. Business and corporate rates are also available.
