Much better than the average Best Western affiliate, this spacious year-round hotel covers 40 acres on a hill at the south end of town, and it is beginning to use up some of that space. Since last inspection, the owners have completed a new, full-service spa (not many Best Western hotels have spas).
A 40,000-sq-ft indoor water park is a year-round oasis. Fun and family-oriented, and more low-key than the White Mountain, this modest resort provides a wealth of activities, along with clean, cozy accommodations, well-regarded meeting space, recreational options for both adults and children, and some of the best rates in town.
The
three-story white and red barn-board-style complex features a navy and burgundy lobby with wingback chairs. The bright blue carpeting throughout the hotel is bold and upbeat. The adjacent great room harbors the main restaurant, bar and fireplace lounge. A mountain-view lounge hosts nightly entertainment in season and on weekends year-round. This space is sometimes called into service to host functions, too.
This child-friendly resort also offers supervised programs for youngsters, as well as special menus and amenities. The new spa appeals to adults with its long list of health and beauty treatments. Indoor and outdoor pools, shuffleboard courts, two tennis courts, a sauna, ski and hiking trails, and carriage rides also provide plenty of diversion. A gym
is located in an old barn. The hotel's well-regarded meeting space for 350 people is supplemented by a small business center. Parking is free. Pets are welcomed for a small daily fee.
The modest, well-maintained accommodations are on three levels and display coordinated country fabrics, dark woods and recently added furnishings. Standard amenities include armoires with TVs, two-poster beds, coffeemakers, refrigerators, and wallpapered baths with laminate vanities in tiled dressing areas.
Midlevel rooms have balconies; those above do not but provide more space. Family rooms have paired twin beds in lofts and paired doubles on lower
levels, providing one of the best values in the valley.
Two-bedroom town houses feature living rooms with pine paneling, dining areas, full kitchens with microwave ovens, TVs, king beds, two twins and two tiled combination baths. Room service runs 7 am-10 pm, and rooms are reserved for nonsmokers and guests with disabilities.
The North Conway Grand Hotel offers better facilities overall, but views and rates are great here. Relaxed fun is the point, and the young, friendly staff is a delight.
