Everything from luxurious, private hideaways and high-rise international hotel chains to modest mom-and-pop places is available in Acapulco. Most of the resort hotels are located along the Costera, from Las Brisas to Playa Caleta, but the most glamorous hotels are east of town, in the Acapulco Diamante area. The best-located places tend to be the high-rise hotels lining Acapulco Bay, which are within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and discos. Other splendid, glamorous hideaways dot the hills overlooking the bay. The older, less expensive hotels on and near Caleta Beach, many of which retain the ambience of the 1950s and 1960s, are favored by Europeans and Canadians.

Camino Real Acapulco Diamante
Escenica St Km 14, Baja Catita s/n Fracc. Pichilingue, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Reached via a steep, winding road through the chic (and very secure) Diamante development, this 14-year old property is visually impressive, but guests pay for its hideaway location every time they step into a taxi. Although room rates have dropped recently, food and beverage prices are high, though... Read Entire Review »

The Fairmont Pierre Marques
Playa Relvocadero s/n Granjas del Marques, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Formerly the Pierre Marques, this property has close to 350 guest rooms but still has the feel of a boutique hotel compared to its sister next door, the gargantuan Fairmont Princess. Built almost 50 years ago by J. Paul Getty, the hotel exhibits a midcentury modernism that looks just as impressive t... Read Entire Review »
Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco
Av Costera M Aleman 97, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico

Hyatt Regency Acapulco
Costera Miguel Aleman 1 Col Icacos, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Anchoring the east end of hotel row, this property is one of the most reliable of the hotels rimming Acapulco Bay. Once considered a deluxe hotel, it has fallen to international first-class standards. And for those who pay the full rates, there is much to quibble about. Food and beverage prices rema... Read Entire Review »
Park Royal Acapulco
Costera Guitarron 110, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
This hotel clings to a steep hill above a tiny beach, a setting that gives it the same picture-postcard views of Acapulco Bay as the nearby Las Brisas Acapulco-but comparisons end there. The former Radisson Acapulco Hotel & Resort has always held great potential but has been mismanaged throughout it... Read Entire Review »
Quinta Real Acapulco
Paseo de la Quinta, 6, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
This intimate alternative to Las Brisas or the Camino Real is scaled for privacy, from the sit-down reception to the small but elegantly designed pools at the entrance. The hotel is built into an 80-ft-high cliff, and although a bluff blocks views of the sunsets, the property does overlook the long... Read Entire Review »
Villa Vera Hotel Spa & Racquet Club
Lomas Del Mar 35 Fracc. Club Deportivo, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Once Acapulco's most exclusive hotel, this six-hectare resort used to be a haven for show-biz glitterati: Elizabeth Taylor married Mike Todd and the Nixons spent their 25th anniversary here. Avalon Excalibur
163 Costera Miguel Aleman, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Formerly the Paraiso Acapulco Plaza las Glorias and before that a Radisson Hotel, this property has gone through more hands than a hundred-peso bill and has been worn thin with each passing. The latest auspices of the Avalon group have brought few changes, except for the worse. Maintenance has not k... Read Entire Review »
Calinda Beach Acapulco
AV Costera M. Aleman 1260 Fraccionamiento Club Deportivo, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
In an enviable location in the heart of a crowded tourist area, this 1970s archetype sits on some choice beachfront real estate, and post-season rates make it one of the best bargains in Acapulco-as long as one can live with its inconsistencies. Public spaces are looking shabby, air conditioning is... Read Entire Review »
El Cano Hotel
Av Costera Miguel Aleman 75, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Set back from the boulevard, and two blocks from Acapulco Center, this property dates back 40 years to Acapulco's heyday and remains at the top of the pile of the faltering hotels along the bay. Although its rates may seem pricey compared to its budget-grade neighbor, the more imposing Copacabana, i... Read Entire Review »
Continental Emporio Acapulco
Costera M Aleman 121 Fracc Magallanes, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
In the heart of hotel row, this property saw its fortunes rise after being picked up by the national Emporio chain. And while there are some complaints with the staff, this hotel comes t... Read Entire Review »
Copacabana Beach Hotel Acapulco
Tabachines 2 Fracc Club Deportivo, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
This property sits across from the convention center and near the older, classier and more expensive El Cano. This property is the best budget choice on hotel row, with one caveat: People come here to party. Although guest rooms are smaller than at the equally priced La Palapa, standards are general... Read Entire Review »
Fiesta Inn Acapulco
Costera Miguel Aleman, 2311, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Physically joined to El Presidente Acapulco, the property is a separate operation under the same franchise as Fiesta Americana. Compared to El Presidente, this is the better choice, offering lower rates, higher standards and more professional staff. The hotel may be somewhat bland and commercial, bu... Read Entire Review »
La Palapa Hotel & Suites
Fragata Yucatan 210, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
The low rates of one of the least expensive beachfront hotels in Acapulco still fail to justify its fading paint, cracking concrete and weeping rust stains. More Animal House than hotel, this place will repel all but the most determined spring breakers. The reception staff is infuriatingly nonchalan... Read Entire Review »
Ritz Acapulco
Av Costera Miguel Aleman 159, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
On the upper end of hotel row, this middle-grade all-inclusive lacks the space, amenities or location of Copacabana, and is in a poorer location closer to city center (read: dirtier beach). More popular with locals, this poor man's Club Med has fallen off the radar of the international tourist with... Read Entire Review »
Tortuga Acapulco
Ave Costera M Aleman 132, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Though amongst the more reliable budget hotels here, this property is showing major signs of wear with no improvements on the horizon. El Presidente Acapulco Hotel
Ave Costera M Aleman 89, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
In the heart of hotel row, this property continues its downward trajectory, a barometer of Acapulco's own waning fortunes with international tourists.
