Vermont levies a 9% tax on lodging and prepared and restaurant meals, and a 10% tax on sales of alcohol served in restaurants.
The sales tax rate is 6%, although a number of items, including clothing and shoes under US$110, are exempt. Some towns—Stratton, Manchester and Williston—also have local option taxes.
