This fishing town (herring, mainly) on the east coast has 19th-century wooden houses and an impressive coastline. It is regarded as one of Iceland's most picturesque towns, but there is a lot of competition for that title. It's generally seen as a one-night stopover while driving around the island. Seydisfjordur is also the port city for the Norrona passenger ferry, which travels to the Faroe Islands, the Shetland Islands, Denmark and Norway. 250 mi/400 km east of Reykjavik.
